Robert joined Extel in 2002 as its first non-executive director and chairman. He led the creation of Extel’s board of directors. Since its inception, Extel’s board has guided the company to achieve its vision of being an internationally recognized leader in customer-driven design and manufacturing of complex electronic components and systems.

In 2020 Robert became lead non-executive director, passing the chairman’s baton to Greg Toland, one of Extel’s founders.

A keen sailor, Robert has skippered his Dragon yacht “St George” in many national regattas.  He is also a private pilot of long-standing and remains a keen skier. He reads a lot and loves classical music.
